Highlights from ONC’s meeting on September 14th

 

Guest Speaker, Kip Bulwinkle with North Charleston Artist’s Guild

-The Guild will be hosting an event in December that will showcase about  10 local artists.  If the artists live in our neighborhood, they will present their works in their home and their will also be neighboring homes that will open their doors for artists not living within ONC.   The event will take place on a Saturday from about 2-6pm with the hope of it being a walking tour and then invite people back to the Montague strip for some of our great local dining.

Guest Speaker, Eve Lighty from Charleston County Recycling

-Eve came to our meeting to help our local recycling initiative and educate us on the new recycling standards for the County.  Please see the blog for all the new ways you can recycle.

Police Updates

-Officer Tilton, our neighborhood resource officer reported the following crimes that took place in the Olde NC area last month:  lots of stolen vehicles, home burglaries, robbery of persons, and even stealing A/C units. 

-Charleston is 1 of 40 cities that is now offering online maps to pinpoint crime.  Visit northcharleston.org to get to this system. 

-If there is an immediate concern, contact police by calling dispatch at 740-1015, however, if there is a persistent concern, contact Officer Tilton via email to let him know so that he may monitor the situation closely (tiltonb@northcharleston.org)or call him at 819-0017

Further Notes

-NC Coliseum renovations are underway.

-Edging sidewalks CAN be enforced by code enforcement, so don’t find yourself getting a citation.

-Possible proposal of 1cent sales tax?? What do you think?

How to make an online request to the city of North Charleston

Go to www.northcharleston.org and click on Residents.  Click Online Services Tab and click on Citizen Support Center to make a service request.  Click Make a Request, it will prompt you to choose a department and concern type, then sign in and give a brief description of your request.  This system works very well!
