-Council proposed some changes to our bylaws at the last meeting regarding officers and their duties and the new Branches which encompass our Council. There will be a vote at tomorrow’s meeting.
-Speeding was checked last month on Holmes Ave. due to complaints and a few tickets were handed out.
-There is a meeting tonight for the Planning Commission to go over phase 2 of the Mixson Development.
-Citizen’s Advisory Council encompasses a representative from all neighborhood councils (about 50 councils) within NC to allow for communication between the Mayor and NC citizens. At the last CAC meeting, they discussed implementing the “Vial of Life” program which will allow the elderly or sick to have their medications available in case of an emergency. There was further discussion about having summer workshops for council leadership so they know how to best utilize their resources.
-Crime Watch Branch: An email blast went out earlier this week about specific crime in our area. Not only does Officer Tilton talk about crime occurrences in our area at our meetings, we also hope to make a monthly email blast as well. Let Paul know if you want to help “Take a bite out of Crime.”
-Beautification Branch: We are organizing a large ongoing project which will be called Adopt-A-Block. Our goals for this project will be to have a block captain on all participating blocks to help facilitate a group effort to keep their block swept, edged and beautiful. We also discussed the upcoming event, Clean Cities Sweep, which will be April 28th from 9-1. We will be cleaning up the triangle shaped green space at Beaver/Lambert/Justice. We are seeking lots of volunteers, please contact Christopher, email@example.com
-Membership Branch: This branch is working hard at getting the first, of hopefully many neighborhood signs which will let people know when they are entering the Olde North Charleston Neighborhood. A sign company has been chosen and so we should be getting this underway very soon.
-School Branch: Kyle Lahm has stepped down as School Branch Coordinator. Council is seeking additional volunteers to help foster the 3 goals that the group initially outlined. Regular communication with ONC residents about volunteer opportunities, scheduled school athletic calendar events to increase community support, and resourceful connection building are the main volunteer responsibilities.
