-Coastal Community Foundation attended our last meeting with questions for our Beautification Council for our recent application for a New Fund Grant, which supports neighborhood groups to make improvements.
-Our 4th Annual Village Street Sale was very successful. We increased our total revenue by 30% from last year. From the proceeds, we donated $333.76 to NC High School Band Booster Club and our council retained $111.25. If you have any comments/suggestions as to future Village Street Sales, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
-Tuesday August 7th is National Night Out, where neighborhoods take the streets to show a presence for Neighborhood Watch Programs.
-Our Neighborhood sign is in and looks fantastic. We will be putting it up at the intersection of Buist and Ohear by the RR trestle. We also plan on funding a future project to beautify this area with more plantings. Representative Bob King has agreed to help support the beautification of this area by requesting regular maintenance from the city and by getting assistance to erect the sign.
-FYI, it is legal for cats to roam the neighborhood. They are not treated the same as dogs when it comes to being unleashed or “at large.”
-Odjfell is continuing work and you will be seeing trucks moving in/out of the property. They have been given strict guidelines to the streets they are allowed to travel on. They will also be removing 4 oak trees, which the city has given approval to, in order to continue progress. They have agreed to plant more trees and shrubs that will be visible form Virginia Ave.
-The council is seeking help from one of our members to help out with accounting/bookkeeping duties. Please contact either Christine Beddia or Kate Besta.

Our goals for this grant are to fund this project with signage and incentives for sustainable efforts. Tomorrow’s meeting will host reps from the Coastal Community Foundation for our final review on the grant approval.
–Membership Branch: Our ONC neighborhood sign is complete and will be making its way to its new home within the coming months.
–School Branch: Council is still seeking a volunteer to be the Branch Leader and to help foster the 3 goals that the group initially outlined: regular communication with ONC residents about volunteer opportunities, scheduled school athletic calendar events to increase community support, and resourceful connection building are the main volunteer responsibilities.
