Get involved at Malcolm C. Hursey

Exciting things are happening at Malcolm C. Hursey Elementary School….our neighborhood school. Want to get in on the action?  Here are a couple of ideas:

Become a “lunch buddy” for a Hursey student and help build self esteem.  Pick a day, commit to once a week or once every other week, then pick a time from 10:30 to 12:30 and the school will match you with a delightful youngster to share lunch with.  Contact Linda Lucas at 745-7105 for details.

Sponsor a community book drive.  Anybody interested in heading this up?  Hursey has less than 400 students from K-3 through 6th grade.  They will gladly accept both new and used children’s books. A successful book drive will help provide each child with a reading book to take home and improve their literacy skills. The contact person for the book drive will be Sharon Kapicka 745-7105.

Help replenish the uniform closet.  Hursey is in need of both new and used uniforms: any solid color polo shirts and blue, navy and khaki pants. The student sizes range from 3T-size 14. The contact person for uniforms is Terry Lupo. 745-7105.
